Jak vybrat repasovanou grafickou kartu a nenaletět

How to choose a refurbished graphics card

Refurbished Graphics Card – a Great Deal or Russian Roulette?

Refurbished graphics cards offer an excellent performance/price ratio, but only if you know where and how to buy. The market is full of units from crypto mining, overheated coolers, or simply scams.

What Does “Refurbished” Graphics Card Actually Mean?

Refurbished hardware doesn’t automatically mean bad hardware. Quality refurbishment includes:

  • Complete diagnostics and performance testing
  • Thermal paste replacement (crucial!)
  • Cooler and fan cleaning
  • Capacitor inspection and replacement if needed
  • Stress testing under load for several hours

What to Always Ask Before Buying

  • How long is the warranty? – A serious refurbisher will offer at least 6 months, ideally 12 months
  • Has the card been tested? – Ask specifically what was tested and for how long
  • Where does the card come from? – Office PC vs. gaming PC vs. mining farm are three different stories

Red Flags

  • No warranty or only 30 days – quality refurbishers stand behind their product longer
  • Suspiciously low price – if a GTX 1080 is 800 CZK, something is wrong
  • Photos of a different card than what’s being sold – common with marketplace sellers
  • Seller doesn’t know where the card came from

How to Test a Card After Purchase

  • FurMark – GPU stress test, run for 15–30 minutes, monitor temperatures
  • 3DMark – standardized benchmark
  • GPU-Z – check card parameters (VRAM, clock, manufacturer)

Temperatures should not exceed 85°C under full load.

Where to Buy Safely

The safest option is to buy from a specialized refurbished hardware retailer that stands behind their products with warranty and service. At importpc.cz every graphics card undergoes complete testing and comes with warranty.
